An Air India flight from Newark Liberty International Airport in US to Mumbai was forced to return and make an emergency landing on Sunday after a serious problem was detected in one of the engines. About 250 persons were on board in this Mumbai-bound Plane.

Pilot observed violent vibrations when Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft was at a height of 29,000 feet. Soon, The flight was asked to return to Newark and while landing one of the blades of the engine got fractures due to stress.

An Air India Spokesperson confirmed the incident and said Pilot's presence of mind averted a disaster. About 60 tonnes of fuel has been dumped to keep the engine idle for making a safe landing. All the passengers on board were safe and they are being adjusted in Air India flight to Delhi.
