Air Pollution Recorded In Alarming Levels In Hyderabad!
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Jun 2023 11:59 AMWhen discussing Pearl City Hyderabad, development and the IT boom come to mind. Recently, Telangana became the most significant contributor to IT jobs in the financial year in the country. Big companies are coming to the state. Earlier, Amara Raja Group shifted its base to Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. The scale of investments will be increased in a phased manner.
Now Hyderabad is in the news for the wrong reason. As per the media reports the capital city is ranked the most polluted city in the southern state. In a recent report, a firm said that the air pollution in the city is very alarming and crossed the prescribed level mentioned by the WHO.
Greenpeace India is a non-profit organisation that works on environmental conditions and fights against issues that hinder the environment. The body mainly promotes solar energy and fights against thermal power, and nuclear power as they leave a big impact on the environment around us.
The body also ranks the cities based on population levels. Going by the same trend, the organisation released a new report by taking data from September 2021 to September 2022. After examining the data, the body said that the pollution levels are high in many cities and Hyderabad is one of them.
As per the media reports, Hyderabad recorded an annual PM2.5 concentration of 40.91 μg/m3. But the guidelines of the global health body World Health Organisation (WHO) says that (5 μg/m3) is the safe level as far as air pollution is concerned. But the levels are around 8.2 times more which is concerning.
After the lockdown was lifted, the number of new vehicles-two-wheelers and four-wheelers increased in Telangana in big numbers. This can be seen as a big cause of the air population. There are public transport methods like buses and the metro. But the majority of people use their personal vehicles which is problematic.
On the other hand, the state is welcoming new flyovers and industries. With this, the wastage is getting increased which in turn resulted in air pollution reaching problematic levels. It looks like people in Hyderabad have to be cautious about the pollution.
