Amalapuram Violence: Situation Under Control, Few Arrests Made!
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 May 2022 9:50 AM GMTKonaseema has a pleasant nature and people go there to enjoy the landscapes. People there are fun-loving. Contrary to this image, Konaseema saw violent protests against the renaming of the district after Br Ambedkar. The protesters created havoc in Amalapuram town and set the town on fire.
The protestors went berserk and damaged a few properties including the buses. Raising many fears, houses belonging to a Minister and MLA were set on fire by the protestors. To bring the situation under control, police personnel were deployed in big numbers and the area is under police control.
The Police department is not leaving any stone unturned to deal with the forces. As a big breakthrough, multiple cases were filed by the cops and more than 40 people were arrested in connection with the case. The manhunt is underway to nab the rest.
According to the information, the situation is under control in Amalapuram and the cops are trying to bring the same to other regions that fall under the Konaseema district.
No one would have thought that the protestors would turn violent and burn buses and houses of the ruling party legislators. The protesters carrying petrol cans along with them during the protest started a doubt about pre-planning in the case. If there was no pre-planning, then there would have been no petrol cans with the protestors.
As a big turning point in the violence, the protestors headed towards the Collectorate and seized it. Later, they damaged a few buses and injured a few police personnel who were present at the spot. A few videos show protestors pelting stones at the cops in a counterattack.
On the other hand, the political parties are busy attacking each other. The opposition parties feel that the ruling party has failed in dealing with the situation. The parties are asking what the government is doing when there were reports of possible attacks and violence. Hitting back at the opposition parties, the government is alleging that a few political forces might have a role to play in this and those forces will not be spread at any cost.
