Amaravati Farmers Jumping in Joy with Court Orders!
X
It's been around eight since Telangana was bifurcated from the combined Andhra Pradesh. There is no capital city for the divided Andhra Pradesh. While the previous Telugu Desam Party had proposed Amaravati as the capital region, the YCP Government brought a new idea saying that three capitals will be developed.

With the Andhra Pradesh government being adamant on three capitals proposal, the Amaravati farmers have sat for a protest against this and the protest had recently completed 800 days, which was followed by a massive gathering and event. The Amaravati farmers had recalled their struggles at the event.

Now the Amaravti people and farmers are jumping out of joy with the verdict of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Hearing a bunch of -petitions filed by Amaravati farmers, the three-judge bench led by Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra had issued a key verdict on the much-talked-about Amaravati issue.

In its verdict, the division bench had directed the Andhra Pradesh government to develop the Amaravati region as the capital saying that the government should act as per the Capital Region Development Authority.

In the orders, the High Court also made it clear that the government has no power to make any acts, and hence it should follow the CRDA Act. The government was directed to provide basic facilities in the region in three months and the development should be made in six months.

Citing the CRDA agreement, the division bench of the High Court said that the master plan should be finished in 6 months. Having said that, the court also said that no offices should be moved from Amaravati and made it clear that the lands should not be used not for purposes other than capital needs.

As another piece of good news for the petitioners, the High Court directed the state government to pay a sum of Rs 50,000 for petitioners for their expenses. On top of this, the government was also asked by the court to submit reports on development works regularly.

The Amaravati farmers have welcomed the judgment and said that their long fight had paid off finally with the High Court's verdict. Expressing their confidence in the judiciary, the Amaravati farmers had thanked the media for showing their plight to the world.
