Shocking: Ambati Rayudu Announces Retirement!
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 July 2019 8:30 AM GMTIndian middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu announced retirement from all forms of cricket after second ICC World Cup snub.
Actually, Ambati Rayudu was one of the strong contenders for No.4th Position in Team India. Selectors, however, preferred All-Rounder Vijay Shankar because of the three-dimensional advantage (Batting, Bowling & Fielding). Rayudu was miffed with Selectors for not picking up him in the 15-member squad. He made a sarcastic comment on Chief Selector MSK Prasad, 'Just ordered a new set of 3-D Glasses to watch the Wold Cup'.
When Shikhar Dhawan was injured, Wicketkeeper Batsman Rishabh Pant was called as his replacement. Even after Vijay Shankar was ruled out of World Cup with a toe injury, Team Management and Selectors replaced the All-Rounder with Mayank Agarwal instead of Ambati Rayudu. These two developments in quick succession might have hurt the Hyderabadi so much. Decision to announce retirement when the World Cup is under progress created a sensation.
Ambati Rayudu scored 1,694 runs in 55 ODIs for India. This include three centuries and 10 half-centuries. He represented Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. From now, He will be focussing only on the T20 Cricket.
