Amid Opposition, Two Crucial Farm Bills Passed In Rajya Sabha

The Upper House passed, The Farmer's Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 today.
Earlier, the Lower House Lok Sabha passed the two bills along with the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
The opposition parties strongly opposed the bills and said the Bills will hinder the minimum support price (MSP) practice and the farm sector in the nation will get corporatized with this.
While discussing the bills in the house, Senior Congress leader in the house Pratap Singh Bajwa slammed the bills and termed the bills as the death warrants of the farmers.
Taking a dig at BJP's oldest ally Shiromani Akali Dal opposing the bills, Bajwa asked how can the Centre expects the farmers to listen to it when the ally party is ready to support the bill.
In the Upper House, the Bills faced severe opposition from Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Telangana Rashtriya Samiti, and other parties.
Senior BJP Leader Bhupendra Yadav lauded the bills and called them the biggest reform in the Agricultural sector and said the opposition is stopping the farmers' progress.
