By: Tupaki Desk | 30 April 2021 1:33 PM GMTIn the wake of a massive spike in infections and casualties related to the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, the Delhi government has imposed a six-day lockdown earlier this month. With no sign of progress, the lockdown was extended further.
Along with new infections, the national capital Delhi is also seeing a record high in Covid-19 deaths. The measures taken by the government didn't yield a positive outcome.
Amidst this, AAP MLA Shoaib Iqbal, who represents the Matia Mahal Assembly constituency in the national capital, batted for President's rule, to bring the situation under control.
In a video message, the MLA said, he and his government are not able to help the people in the crisis time. Calling Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal incompetent, he blamed him for the situations in Delhi.
He went on to say that he feels embarrassed for not being able to help anyone being a legislator and said, the Delhi government is not in a position to stand with the people. No one listens to me, he added.
The MLA has appealed to the Delhi High Court to issue orders to implement President's rule for three months with immediate effect, saying that the situation in Delhi is in bad condition.
Sharing the video of the MLA, the Goa wing of Congress said, the senior MLA is crediting the incompetence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the situation and demanding the President's rule.
"A Senior MLA of @AamAadmiParty, Mr. Shoaib Iqbal citing failure due to the incompetence of @ArvindKejriwal demands President's rule in Delhi. He blames Kejriwal govt for Delhi's suffering. #KejriwalFailsDelhi," the tweet reads.
