At least after the backlash over the denial any major allocations to AP and Telangana in the Union Budget 2018, CMs of Telugu States expected Centre to take a favorable decision in the demand for delimitation of Assembly Constituencies. They had lobbied for it many times citing it's part of the provisions of AP Reorganisation Act 2014. Even Centre gave an indication that they are seriously considering the proposal and the bill would be passed during the Parliament session after amending Section 26 of the AP Reorganisation Act.
BJP President Amit Shah ruined all the hopes of Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao. He made it clear delimitation of constituencies won't happen anytime soon. 'Don't expect early polls. Elections will happen next year in the same number of Assembly Constituencies that exist at present,' he informs.
This move should be seen as a stand of Union Government. Delimitation of Assembly segments mayn't happen before 2026.
Telangana BJP chief Laxman alerted BJP Leadership saying increase of Assembly Constituencies will eventually benefit TRS and MIM. In AP, TDP would get benefit with the delimitation. What would BJP gain? That's why Modi & Shah aren't keen to approve it!
