The new mutated strain of the novel Coronavirus detected in the United Kingdom which has spread to several countries has entered India too. So far, 20 infections were detected in India.

The new strain of the virus has hit the center of India's high-tech industry Bengaluru hard after an apartment complex was forced to shut after two of its residents have come in contact with the strain.

Going into detail, a 34-year-old mother and her six-year-old daughter who returned from the United Kingdom on the 19th of December tested positive for the new lineage of the pandemic.

The Mother-daughter duo has been admitted to a state-run hospital for further treatment. People who came in contact with them were shifted to dedicated quarantine facilities.

Talking about the decision, Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K Sudhakar said, the apartment complex was shut not sealed. It was done as a precautionary measure to see the virus is not spread further.

Out of the 20 infections related to the new strain of pandemic, seven infections were detected from Karnataka alone. All of them were shifted to a quarantine facility according. The infected people have recently returned from the UK.

He said, all the contacts who come in contact with the infected people have been traced down. After testing them, they have been shifted to quarantine facilities. The contacts include both primary and secondary contacts.
