Extending his support to non-pollution transport, Union Minister for Heavy Industries Anant Geete came to Parliament Today on a battery-powered Mahindra Verito. The vehicle have been decorated with flowers and red-beacon on the top is an added attraction.

Speaking to media persons, Mr. Anant Geete told usage of such vehicles curbs air and noise pollution. He, however, admits Mahindra Verito is a bit expensive (Rs 13.5 lakh) but expressed confidence over the cost-cutting measures of Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Transport Ministry is keen on encouraging local manufacturing to bring down the cost of battery-powered vehicles.

On Monday, Prime minister Modi offered an pollution-free electric bus to Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan. This vehicle will be used for the travel of Parliamentarians.
