Action against Bhanwarlal! What does it mean?
By: Tupaki Desk | 1 Nov 2017 11:50 AM GMTIAS Officer Bhanwarlal who served as Chief Electoral Officer was relieved of his duties on Tuesday. Much to everyone's surprise, AP Government initiated action against him over rent arrears immediately after his retirement.
In the circular issued by Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar, It's been mentioned that AP Government initiated Disciplinary Action against Bhanwarlal for substance of misconduct or misbehavior. The IAS Officer failed to pay rent arrears of Rs 4,37,500 for unauthorized stay in the Government Quarter.
Actually, Bhanwarlal was directed to pay the rent arrears in 2007 itself but he failed to do so. AP Government considers it as not maintaining integrity and unbecoming of the conduct of the All India Services (AIS) Officers. Bhanwarlal was asked to submit a written statement of defense and also clarify whether he desires to be heard in person within 15 days after receiving the order.
The action taken by AP Government raised the suspicion whether Bhanwarlal is targeted for acting tough during his tenure as Chief Electoral Officer.
