AP nominates 3 Cities for Smart City project

The deadline for the first phase to choose 100 Smart Cities in the country ends on July 31st. Uttar Pradesh tops the chart with 13 Smart Cities, followed by Tamil Nadu with 12, Maharashtra with 10, Madhya Pradesh with 7, Gujarat & Karnataka with 6 each.
Only 20 Cities will be picked up by Centre in the First Stage of Smart Cities project based on their population and other criteria. Rest of the 80 Cities will be divided into two equal batches (40 each) and focus on developing them will be only after 2 years.
Centre has allotted Rs 100 crore a year for each Smart City. About Rs 48,000 crore will be spent on the entire project in the next 5 years.
