AP CS Proves Savior For Migrant Labourers
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 May 2020 12:55 PM GMTThere are complaints galore about the insensitive attitude of state governments and bureaucrats vis-Ã -vis migrant labourers trudging their way to their native states. But, Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Neelam Sahney has proved to be quite different.
The other day, as she was going to her residence from the AP Secretariat, she saw a group of migrant labourers on a long walk. She stopped her car, got down and talked to the migrant labourers. To their utter surprise, the CS spoke to them in their mother tongue and enquired about their condition. She immediately called up the collector and the sub-collector of Guntur and asked them to provide food and shelter to the migrants. Seeing her concern, several migrants had tears in their eyes and thanked her for the help.
However, the Yellow Media was quick to criticize the CS claiming that this was nothing but a cheap PR trick by her as she was seeking an extension for another six months. They sure know that PM Modi and the Union Home Ministry are not swayed by such media coverage. Also, the decision to give an extension or otherwise is an administrative decision and has nothing to do with media coverage.
