As a bid to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus, the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has imposed an 18-hour curfew in the state., which will start from today.

Starting from May 5, the curfew will be staying in place till the 18th of this month. All the firms, businesses, offices, educational institutions, and eateries shall be closed between 12 PM to 6 AM.

To restrict the public from gathering at public places, section 144 will be imposed in the state and cases will be booked against people, who will step out of their houses without proper reason.

The state government gave an exemption to hospitals, diagnostics, pharmacies, medical shops, IT services, fuel pumps, water supply, media, and essential services during the curfew period.

Pregnant women and Covid-19 patients, who need medical care for the treatment, health facilities, health care establishments, and people visiting the medical facilities will be permitted.

With everything coming to a standstill in the state, local transport services and public transport services like Road Transport Corporation(RTC) and others will not be allowed in the state when the 12-hour curfew is active.

Coming to functions like marriages and others, a maximum of only 20 people will be permitted that too with proper permission from the local authorities. In some particular instances, passes will be given to people for functions and others.
