Andhra Pradesh HC temporarily halts SEC's eWatch' application

The High Court heard the arguments of both the parties, the Andhra Pradesh government, and the State Election Commission. After hearing the arguments, the High Court issued orders to halt the app temporarily.
During the arguments, the counsel who represented the State Election Commission told the court that, the state election body possess the authority to design apps for the polls and said, the authority was given by the Election Commission of India.
The counsel who appeared before the High Court on the behalf of the AP government told the court that there are no security permits for the ‘eWatch’ application and questioned the need of developing a new app when the C-Vigil app of the Election Commission of India is available.
The High Court bench has directed the Andhra Pradesh Technology Services (APTS) to inspect the app and certify the app. The app was temporarily banned till the 9th of February.
The AP Panchayat polls witnessed several face-offs between the Andhra Pradesh government and SEC over several issues. The application became another reason for the tussle between the two parties.
