It is a proud moment for the Telugu people. A Telugu man has shown the world that what he can achieve. Before going into the details, let us know few details. How many kilometers can we walk per hour? If we walk fast and nonstop, we can walk 5 km. If we walk even faster, we can complete 6 km.

If this is the case of walking on the land, what about swimming across Palk Strait?The answer is 2 km at the maximum. But a Telugu police swam more than 4 km per hour and set a new record.

Modukuri Tulasi Chaitanya is working as a head constable in Andhra Pradesh. He swam across Palk Strait(The stretch between India and Srilanka) in just 8.25 hours and created the record as the fastest swimmer to cross the Palk Strait. He started swimming from Talaimannar harbour in Sri Lanka on Saturday early hours at 1 AM. He completed 32 km stretch 8.25 hours and reached Dhanushkodi on 9.25 AM. The earlier record was in the name of Chennai college student Rajeswar Prabhu who crossed the Palk Strait in 12 hours.

Chaitanya achieved police job in the sports quota and he has won several medals in his college days. Even after joining the police department, he never lost his interest in swimming which is his passion.

After setting up a new record, Chaitanya has spoken with the media. He said that IPS officer Rajiv Trivedi is the inspiration behind his achievement. He thanked the police department for their wonderful support in achieving this feat. He said that he could not achieve this record without the support and encouragement of the DGP, Commissioner of police.

He said that he has undergone special training for six months to achieve this record. He also revealed that he had to take several permissions from Navy.. customs.. CID.. local authorities.. Sri Lanka high commission etc.
