APs 1,587 crore deal with World Bank!

AP Government has signed a $250 million (approx Rs 1,587 crore) credit agreement with the World Bank towards restoration, improving the standards of the public services and livelihoods in cyclone Hudhud affected districts such as Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and East Godavari.

World Bank's India director Onno Ruhl, Centre's Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs Selva Kumar and AP State's Principal Secretary in the Revenue Department JC Sharma signed the agreement which could have remarkable impact on AP Disaster Recovery Project.

Focus will be primarily on the repairs of roads, infrastructure and power network. Underground Power Distribution System is on the agenda of AP Government to effectively overcome natural disasters. From remodeling of cyclone shelters to setting up pedestrian walkways and landscapes at the Visakhapatnam beach is also on the priority list. The whole project is expected to benefit 13 million people.
