India has a pool of talent. It is not a wonder that Indians are leading global companies and firms. The majority of the global companies are headed by Indians. Sundar Pichai(Alphabet), Satya Nadella(Microsoft), Parag Agarwal(Twitter), Leena Nair(Chanel), Shantanu Narayen(Adobe Inc), Arvind Krishna(IBM), Nikesh Arora(Palo Alto Networks), and the list goes on.

Another Indian joined the list. An Indian-origin person was picked to lead a global firm. As a big promotion in his status, he will be serving as the chief executive officer and will report to the Chairman directly as long as he stays in his position.

Indian-origin Sowmyanarayan Sampath was promoted as the executive vice president and chief executive officer of the New York-based Wireless carrier company Verizon Business. His appointment will come into effect from the 1st of July this year. Eight years after joining the company, he was elevated to a key position.

The American wireless network operator firm announced the news in a press release and said that it is happy to see Sowmyanarayan Sampath in the big post and it is eagerly waiting to see how he progresses in his position.

"Sampath brings more than two decades of experience in digital transformation and critical network infrastructure on behalf of business customers to his new role at Verizon, plus extensive knowledge of products and their role in powering enterprise growth and global security," the company said in its press release.

"I am proud of the Verizon Business team's drive and continued growth as part of our customer-facing transformation model. Given Sampath's distinguished Verizon tenure, this will be a seamless transition and I expect him to continue the business momentum," the New York-based firm added.

Sowmyanarayan Sampath's journey with Verizon Business started way back in 2014. By taking up various positions, he got the position of chief revenue officer for the firm. While the current CEO was shifted to another wing by the company, Sampath got the opportunity.

Sampath played a big role in Network Transformation and OneFiber, the areas that were taken seriously by the firm. Given the progress he brought, the company pinned high hopes that he would continue the same.
