AP Bandh brings normal life to standstill

The bandh call given by Opposition Parties and Student Associations in protest against the Special Assistance Measure (SAM) announced by Centre instead of Special Category Status is successful. Protests have been held at all the District Headquarters, Towns and Villages. Students took part in the bandh in big numbers.

Cops have arrested YCP and Congress Leaders in few districts as a precautionary measure. CPM State Secretary Madhu was arrested in Vijayawada for organizing Rastha Roko. YSRC Leader Vangaveeti Radha has been taken into custody for holding a bike rally. Section 144 and 30 were implemented in few parts of Chittoor district.

Protests were staged at Bus Depots to block the public transportation. Educational Institutions and Business Establishments have been closed.

Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan asked people to decided whether to take part in the bandh or not. He, however, expressed the feeling its the Lawmakers who needs to fight for Special Status and common man shouldn't suffer.
