Is Somu Veerraju On His Way Out? Will Kanna Make A Comeback?
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Aug 2021 6:41 AM GMTThe BJP back channels are buzzing with rumours that AP BJP President Somu Veerraju may be replaced soon. It is being said that the BJP national leadership, including national president JP Nadda, are not happy with Somu Veerraju’s performance as the party chief and are looking for a new party chief.
Sources say that in recent times, Somu Veerraju has gone to New Delhi at least twice. But, on both the occasions, he could not secure an appointment with the BJP national chief. Sources say that Nadda is miffed at Somu Veerraju's failure to reactivate the party. He took a long time to constitute the party's district teams. Also, several active leaders of the party in Andhra Pradesh have gone into inactive mode after Somu took over.
A section of the party feels that after Somu Veerraju has taken over, the party has dipped from bad to worse. The party's performance in the local body elections and in the Tirupati bypolls has been way too below par and they feel that Somu has failed to inspire the party workers. They say that the national leadership may replace him by August-end and that it has already begun looking for an alternative.
Meanwhile, a section of the party feels that former state BJP president Kanna Lakshminarayana, who had actively worked to build the party and toured incessantly, may be brought back. They feel that Kanna has worked hard during his tenure. He was removed because he was too close to the TDP. Others feel that former minister from Jammalamadugu, Adinarayana Reddy may be made the state president. They say that the BJP did well in the local polls only in areas where Adinarayana Reddy was influential. Hence, he could be rewarded with the key post, say sources. Let's wait and see how things unfold.
