AP Districts Formation:Flood of Demands reaches the Committee!

For easy administration, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government had come up with a decision to increase the district count in the state. The districts were named on the grounds of the Parliamentary constituencies. Though the Parliament seats are 25 in the state, the districts will be 26 as per the government plan.
The reason behind this is that Araku Constituency has a vast area and keeping that in mind, the constituency was made into two districts, resulting in the districts in the state turning 26.
The government's decision did not go well with many and a flood of suggestions and demands are coming from people and various organisations. To see that the suggestions don't go unnoticed, the government had constituted a committee to look into these proposals and demands.
The concerned committee is going through a heavy task reportedly as thousands of suggestions and demands are reaching the committee. The suggestions and demands coming to the committee deal with many issues.
A proposal was reportedly made to the committee that a Markapur region should be made a district along with Giddalur, Yerragondapalem, Kanigiri, Darsi. A revenue division should be made with Repalle as the headquarters.
As Sri Sathya Sai district was made, people from Hindupur started a demand that the region should be made the headquarters given the facilities it has.
While announcing Satya Sai district, the Andhra Pradesh government had fixed Puttaparthi as the headquarters. After the announcement was made, MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna had joined the protests for the demand to make Hindupur the headquarters. Not just protesting, he even wrote a letter to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Another demand is that the Vijayawada district which was named after the torchbearer of Telugu Desam Party Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao should be renamed and the district should be named after Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, who was assassinated while fighting for the public causes.
Naming the temple city district Vijaaywada after the thespian Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao aka Anna Garu did not go well with many and they have come up with this demand. The other demands deal with either asking the government to join them with other districts or to remove them from the districts.
