AP Employees' Union To Challenge HC Verdict In Supreme Court
By: Tupaki Desk | 21 Jan 2021 8:37 AM GMTThe Andhra Pradesh high court on Thursday gave a nod for the local body elections in the state. Although it is a piece of happy news for the state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and opposition parties in the state, the employees associations of AP are not pleased with the verdict of the high court. They opposed the court verdict of giving a green signal to the panchayat polls when the employees are busily engaged with the vaccination drive.
As per the reports, the employees' associations of AP are set to challenge the High Court verdict in the Supreme Court. The Government Advocate General has already given clarity on this. The government argues that it is difficult to hold elections in the state due to the distribution of Covid-19 vaccine.
The employees' union said it was being implicated in a petition filed by the government in the Supreme Court. Kakarla Venkatarami Reddy, Chairman of the AP Government Employees Federation, said it was not right to force employees to perform duties. The employees union hopes that they will get justice in the apex court.
