AP gets Big Relief in Telugu Academy Arrears Case!
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 April 2022 10:26 AM GMTIts been more than eight years since Telangana was carved out of the combined Andhra Pradesh. However, there are a few issues that have to be sorted out between the two states. Be it water sharing or the pending arrears, both states are trying hard in settling the issues.
The Andhra Pradesh government has been fighting for the pending arrears of the Telugu Akademi funds. As a big relief to the state government, the Supreme Court had ruled in favour of the state and directed the Telangana government to follow its orders.
Hearing a petition on the Telugu Academy issue, the Supreme Court issued directives to the Telangana government saying that the pending funds should be paid to Andhra within a week including the interest on the balance amount. Having said that, the Apex Court permitted the Telangana government to withdraw its petition in this matter.
It has to be mentioned here that, in the past, the High Court had directed the governments of both states to follow its directives on sharing the funds and assets that are owned by the Telugu Academy located in Hyderabad.
Recently, the Telugu Academy was in the news as the funds and money in the fixed deposits were allegedly transferred to other accounts. A few arrests were made by the investigation officers.
