AP Government Employees Gearing Up for Another Intense Protest?
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 March 2023 12:58 AM ISTThe government employees voted for YSRCP in the last elections hoping that the party would address their demands. It needs to be mentioned here that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy promised that the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) scheme would be scrapped. He said that the scheme would be canceled weeks after coming to power.
It's been four years since YCP came to power. But the demands were not addressed. Forget about fulfilling the demands, the employees are fighting for salaries and other benefits like pensions. Usually, government employees get their salaries on the 1st, but employees are not getting salaries before the 15th of every month.
Earlier the government employees called for a violent protest named Chalo Vijayawada. The protest became a hit to the point where even the national media covered the news. Following this, the government held talks with the employees' unions. However, the issues are not sorted.
Now the employees hinted that another aggressive protest is coming. They said that nothing will happen with casual protests and intense protests are required. Having said that they maintained that they will support anyone who fights for the demand.
AP Government Employees Association president, K R Suryanarayana said that they are in plans to start an intense game plan from the 9th of March for their demands. Speaking to the media, he said that they decided to intensify the efforts as the government did not listen to their demands.
Listing out the issues, Narayana said that the dues of government employees in the state exceeded 12,000 crores and every employee has a due of two and a half to three lakhs and there are no funds in even the GPF accounts too.
