AP Government Moves Supreme Court On Local Body Elections
By: Tupaki Desk | 21 Jan 2021 12:58 PM GMTThe Andhra Pradesh government headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has approached the Supreme Court challenging the verdict given by High Court on Thursday.
The AP HC on Thursday gave its nod to conduct panchayat election in the state after hearing a wide range of arguments between SEC and the state government.
The government said in the petition that elections could not be held during the vaccination. Earlier, SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar had approached the High Court Division Bench challenging the judgment of the Single Judge of the High Court on the local body elections. The division bench of the high court has recently ruled that the elections should be held as usual without any difficulty. Now the AP government has approached the Supreme Court challenging that verdict.
Meanwhile, the state employees union also said that they could not participate in the election duties amid Covid-19 vaccination program.
