YSRCP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the ABHAYAM Passenger App that is designed for the safety of women who travel in cabs and auto-rickshaws.
Given the prevailing pandemic situations, CM Jagan launched the ABHAYAM Passenger App virtually from the Chief Minister's camp office at Tadepalli.
Talking after the ABHAYAM Passenger App inauguration, CM Jagan said, the government is giving top priority to women's safety. For women's safety, we have established Disha Police stations in every district.
"With the help of the ABHAYAM Passenger App, women can travel in cabs and auto-rickshaws safely. After pressing the panic button in autos, police will receive the information. Within 10 minutes, they will reach there.," CM Jagan said.
Looking at the ABHAYAM Passenger App, the initiative is a joint venture of the Centre and state government. Out of the estimated cost of Rs 138.48 Crore, the Centre allocated Rs 80.09 crore, while the state government has to allocate Rs 55.39 crore as the state's share.
The Andhra Pradesh Department of Transport which monitors the ABHAYAM Passenger App will implement the project in the state in a phased manner.
