Few months after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that lands encroached by the poor will be regularised, Andhra Pradesh Government is now seriously considering a similar proposal.

Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishnamurthy on Friday announced AP Cabinet might approve the proposal to regularise upto 125 sq yards of land encroached by the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. He claimed Revenue Department has introduced reforms and have a plan for the lands of 'Grama Kantham' which are allotted for schools, hospitals and grave yards.

KE Krishnamurthy informed all measures have been taken by Revenue Department to protect 'Grama Kantham' lands in the villages. He also adds, "Grama Kantham' lands which were encroached in Urban areas will be regularised if poor people were involved".

The Minister claimed TDP Government has implemented 20 of its poll promises in the past one year and they costed the state exchequer to the tune of Rs 40,000 crore. He says State Govt is hopeful of receiving required financial assistance from the Centre.
