AP govt issued most awaited & controversial GO

Land acquisition for building and developing a new capital for Andhra Pradesh State would commence from tomorrow.GO (No. 166) has been issued by the AP Government while ago for land acquisition in the Capital city region.
The governmentÂ’s move has come after the CRDA act failed to get adequate lands. Some of the farmers refused to hand over their lands for the construction of AP Capital City and even approached High court. But with the GO, the land is expected to be acquired by the government forcibly. The land acquisition would start from Friday and the collectors have been given full powers to acquire lands.
According to notification the acquisition of lands will be started from tomorrow on wards. Government is still looking for 1500 acres of land in the region. From May 15, the land acquisition GO will come into force.
The Govt plans to acquire 33000 acres of land and has so far secured 10000 acres through land-pooling. Meanwhile Andhra Pradesh government has decided to lay foundation stone for the proposed AP Capital city Amaravati on June 6th and it will start construction works from October 22nd on the eve of Dushera festival.
