The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had earlier announced the decision of scrapping the three capital idea by shelving the Amaravathi capital idea proposed by the previous TDP government and is going forward on its decision to see that the state will have three capitals.

By going forward with the decision, the Andhra Pradesh government had called for the option of scrapping the lesson on Amaravathi from the textbooks. The textbook will not have the chapter on Amaravathi in textbooks. By removing the Amaravathi topic, the other topics were continued as usual.

While the chapter on Amaravathi, the capital region proposed by the previous government was taught in a few schools already, the Andhra Pradesh government had directed the schools that the textbooks with Amaravathi topic should not be taught and the topic should be skipped while preparing question papers for the students.

Out of the 11 chapters in the Telugu Textbook for the students of class 10, the other ten chapters were not changed by the government except for the one chapter that has the history and the reasons behind the government opting for the Amaravati region as the capital for the state that was left with no capital after the bifurcation of the state.

This is the new step taken by the government in the decision to call off the Amaravati project, started by the previous Telugu Desam Party(TDP) party. The state government had already stalled the works in the region and the already constructed structures in the region were not being used.

As per the idea proposed by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led Andhra Pradesh government, Amaravati will be the legislative capital of the state while the shore city Visakhapatnam and Kurnool would be executive and judicial capital respectively.

The current government is using only three structures in Amaravati for the purposes while the rest of them were not in use. State Secretariat, Assembly, and High Court complex were currently being used by the Andhra Pradesh government.

On the other hand, the farmers from the Amaravati region who gave their lands for the capital project have been protesting demanding the government to change its decision.
