Big Breaking: Ap Govt Takes Back Three Capitals Bill!
By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Nov 2021 6:40 AM GMTAs a major win for the farmers from the Amaravati region in Andhra Pradesh, who have been protesting challenging the three capitals decision, the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took a sensational decision to go back on the three capitals proposal.
Appearing before the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday on the behalf of the state government, Advocate General S Sriram told the court that the decision to repeal the three capitals decision was taken by the government.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court had resumed the hearings in the case recently and the hearing has been going on daily. As part of the hearing, the High Court heard the case on Monday and the lawyers of both parties placed their arguments. Representing the Andhra Pradesh government, Advocate General said, the government had decided to repeal the three capitals bill.
As the Assembly sessions are going on, there is a high chance for the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to announce the repeal of the three capitals bill while addressing the house.
This comes as a major sigh of relief for the farmers who have been protesting for nearly one year with a demand that Amaravati should be the sole capital for the state rather than having three capitals. Currently, the farmers are carrying out Padayatra to fight against three capitals.
As the protests were reaching one year of commencement, the farmers had started a massive Padayatra that would last for 45 days from Amaravati to Tirupati. The Padayatra was titled 'court to temple'. The opposition parties have already extended their support for the protests carried out by farmers.
The Amaravati issue had brought the opposition parties Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), and Janasena under one roof and they are supporting the protests carried out by the farmers from the Amaravati region against the decision to have three capitals.
After coming to power in the 2019 General elections, the YSRCP government had proposed the three capitals' decision to have three capitals for Andhra Pradesh, one each capital for Legislature(Amaravati) Executive(Visakhapatnam), and Judiciary(Kurnool).
