AP government has recently launched LED distribution programme and it has received good response from households.The programmer outlines the replacement of incandescent bulbs and CFLs with energy-efficient LED lamps to save the energy. AP Govt and EPDCL undertook the project in collaboration with EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Ltd.,) and it was a big success.The pilot programme has been expanded to all districts in Andhra Pradesh since its launch in April 2014 (Puducherry pilot phase).

Now AP govt is planning to launch a pilot project to replace nearly one Lakh old fans with new energy efficient ones in a bid to conserve energy. AP govt is planning to offer nearly 1 lakh fans in th estate. Energy efficient fans will cost Rs 1,900 each. The amount will be recovered in 19 EMIs by levying it in their monthly electricity bills.

This pilot project will be launched on third week of February-2016 in Narsapuram Village of West Godavari district. However The scheme is optional. The AP government has also managed to get green signal from the Centre to allow fixing of these fans by local electricians so that they get employment. The new fans will be 40 % more energy efficient and are estimated to cut the yearly electricity bills by INR. 750.
