On the grounds of failing to implement the orders issued, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had slapped four IAS officers and one former IAS with a fine and jail imprisonment. The High Court gave its orders in this regard on Thursday.

Going into detail, the High Court heard a petition that was filed by a woman who had moved the court in connection with a land issue. The petitioner said she was not paid the compensation that was to be paid to her in the case that traces back to 2015.

Taking a serious note of the non-implementation of the orders issued, the bench of Andhra Pradesh had fined retired IAS Officer Manmohan Singh Rs 1,000 along with a jail sentence. IAS Officer Seshagiribabu, who was the then Nellore Collector when the issue took place was slapped with two weeks imprisonment, and a Rs 1,000 fine was also imposed.

MuthyalaRaju and A.S Ravat were imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 each along with a jail sentence of two weeks and one month respectively. Having said that, the High Court gave a chance to the officials to go for an appeal in this case. A time of one month was given to go for the appeal in this case.

The case traces back to 2015. One Sai Brahma had knocked on the doors of the Andhra Pradesh High Court saying that she was not paid the compensation in a land issue. Earlier, the High Court had issued directives to pay the compensation to the woman. However, compensation was not given.

On top of slapping the officers with a fine and jail sentence, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had directed that the woman should be paid a sum of Rs 1 lakh and instead of paying the amount from the government money, the money should be paid from the personal accounts of the officials.

The issue took place in the Tallapaka region of the Nellore district in the divided Andhra Pradesh. Senior IAS Officer Seshagiri Babu was the Collector of the Nellore district when the issue took place. He was a member of the 2006 IAS batch.
