AP IT Minister Questions TS Govt's Views On Steel Plant!
By: Tupaki Desk | 10 April 2023 6:50 PM GMTThe Vizag steel plant is not a firm alone. It is the legacy and heritage of the shore city Vizag. After intense protests and lives lost, the steel plant was set up. Visakha Ukku Andhrula Hakku(Visakha steel is the right of the Andhra people) was the slogan used for the protest. All these factors helped in setting up the Vizag Steel Plant.
But the Union government is not considering this and is going forward with its privatisation. No matter how hard the employees and people in the city are protesting, it wants to go for privatisation.
The Telangana government reportedly wants to take part in the bidding. The political experts say that the BRS might want to use the bidding to increase its political image in Andhra Pradesh as it wants to run the polls in the upcoming polls.
Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath reacted to this and asked KCR's stand on the Vizag Steel plant. He asked how a person who said he is against privatisation of the plant wants to take part in the bedding. Does he(KCR) want the privatisation of the plant? What is their stand on privatisation, the Cabinet Minister asked.
The Minister said that the government is against privatisation and doesn't want this to happen. Saying that it is its stand to not see the steel plant get privatised and that's why it is not taking part in the bidding.
If the government is not interested in privatising the steel plant, how can we take part? I also cannot understand how the Telangana government which is opposing the steel plant privatizing wants to take part in this, he added.
