AP Legislative Council send refers bills for examination
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 Jan 2020 5:48 AM GMTIn a much shocker to the YSRCP government, the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Chairman MA Shariff has referred two bills to a select committee for a deeper examination of the controversial three capitals.
This led to a temporary stop to CM Jagan's idea to have three capitals, one each for legislative, executive and judiciary. Since then the house was adjourned.
The bills which were sent to examination are AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill,2020, and the AP Capital Region Development Authority(CRDA) Act Bill.
After hearing the heated debate from both sides, the chairman said that using his discretionary powers under Rule No 154, he will refer the Bills to a select committee. Interestingly this is also the demand of Opposition TDP which has a clear majority in the house.
The house which has 58 members witnessed noisy scenes and procedural issues as both TDP and YSRCP indulged in a war of words leading to a tense situation in the house.
