AP State Local Body Elections Postponed!

For these elections, 10th class examinations in the state have been postponed too. With Covid-19 pandemic disease becoming the top priority issue Worldwide, Election Commission has decided to postpone elections by 6 weeks.
Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, Election Officer told this latest development to press and said that Central Government's directive to avoid mass gatherings at all costs has made Election Commission to take this decision.
As Covid-19 spread needs to be contained immediately, Indian Government has taken very strict stand on allowing mass gatherings even for spiritual and religious meets.
Ramesh Kumar clarified that there is no political pressure at any level to take such a decision on the Election Commission and they arrived at this decision after thorough discussions about security, safety measures during the huge mass gatherings that are inevitable during the elections.
"The nominations filed till Saturday, 14th March and unanimously elected representatives will be recognised as legitimate and will be considered valid", further stated Ramesh Kumar.
