Ap Panchayat Elections: Dilemma Over The Polls Continue!

The much-talked-about Local Body elections row in Andhra Pradesh continues to go through many twists and turns with each day passing, as the state government and Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar are very strong on their stand over the local body polls.
While Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is not leaving any stone unturned to hold the Panchayat elections, the Andhra Pradesh government is in the opinion of not going for the polls as the Covid-19 vaccine drive is underway.
Despite the political tussle, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar issued the election notification for the Panchayat elections. The polls will be held in a phased manner in Andhra Pradesh.
However, the district officials embarrassed Nimmagadda by not showing up for the video conference he held on Saturday to discuss the planning on the Local body elections.
Even the employees association has also announced that it will not be a part of the Panchayat elections as they don't want to take a risk with the Coronavirus and they should be vaccinated against the pandemic and then only they will render their services during the polls.
As another development in the Panchayat elections row, the nominations from the candidates will be accepted from tomorrow, according to the election notification issued by SEC Nimmagadda.
It is interesting to know whether Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar will go ahead with the schedule though he is not receiving any help from the authorities or he will make any changes in the dates.
Well, we will get clarity on this on Monday. Political analysts believe that Nimmagadda might go ahead with the election process taking the way he dealt with the polls into consideration.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court will hear the petition filed by the Andhra Pradesh government challenging the High Court orders on Panchayat elections on Monday.
Now all the eyes are on the SC hearing. If the top court gives its verdict in favor of the government, the SEC should take a back step and the government should gear up for the polls if the verdict comes in the favor of the SEC.
