AP Panchayat Polls: YSRCP happy with SECâs decision on unanimous polls!
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Feb 2021 3:13 PM GMTThe first phase of the Local Body Polls in Andhra Pradesh will be held a few hours from now. Ahead of the Panchayat Polls, Sec Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar surprised everyone with his decision.
The State Election Commissioner(SEC), who is against the decision of unanimous polls from the first, has surprisingly made a big U-turn and reportedly gave his nod for the unanimous polls.
Media reports claimed that Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has directed the concerned officers to issue declarations for the contestants who have won the polls unanimously on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The sudden U-turn from the SEC came hours after he met Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan on Monday over the polls. He discussed various issues with the latter including the unanimous polls.
Nimmagadda took the decision to hold the unanimous polls after Guntur and Chittor districts reported the highest number of the unanimous Panchayats. Chittor and Guntur reported 110 and 67 panchayats respectively.
With the SEC giving his green signal for the unanimous polls, the YSRCP is said to be happy as the government has been fighting for the winning the Panchayats unanimously as the fights and unwanted incidents can be restricted.
