AP, T BJPs Differ On Ganesh Festival
By: Tupaki Desk | 27 Aug 2020 5:33 AM GMTThe BJP is a national party and is also a nationalist party. On any given issue, itâs response from Kashmir to Kanyakumari is same. But, on the issue of the Ganesh festival however, the AP BJP and the Telangana BJP are responding differently and reacting divergently. Both are neighbouring states but the respective BJP chiefs are having contradictory views.
In both Telangana and Andhra, the state governments have restricted the Ganesha festivals. There are no public pandals and huge gatherings in view of Corona. AP BJP chief Somu Veerraju has not only supported this wholeheartedly but also wrote a letter to the State Government giving suggestions on how to stay safe during Covid 19. He called for low-key festivities, no gatherings and complete compliance of government directions. On the contrary, Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay is all fire and brimstone on this issue. He is warning the Government of a Hindu backlash and called for protests over curbs on the festivities. Sanjay is leading the charge against the TRS government on the Ganesha issue.
This double-tongued approach is not just baffling the observers, but has even gone on to become a hot topic for discussion. The very difference in the nature of politics in both AP and Telangana is responsible for the divergent views, say political pundits.
