AP's Vote on Account budget: Priority to welfare

The vote-on-account for the coming quarter, adopted by the Government showed that welfare schemes and agriculture are top priority for the government. The allocations for the education department too are on the higher side
The vote-on-account showed that the total budget outlay for the coming quarter is of the order of 70983.11 crore. A notification to this effect was also issued. In what could be seen as the tightening of the belt, the notification said that the HoDs and chief controlling officers of various departments should not overshoot the budget allocated to them. Of this Rs 63020.55 crore is meant for various departments Rs 7962.55 crore is meant for expenditure under consolidated fund. For the welfare programmes under BC, social welfare, tribal welfare, minority welfare, women and child welfare and the disabled departments have been allocated a staggering Rs 10000 crore.
The agriculture sector has been allocated under revenue expenditure Rs 7171.26 crore and under capital expenditure Rs 167.64 crore These allocations have also been made under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. Rs 7972 crore have been allocated for the education. The funds would be spent for Vidya Kanuka and Nadu-Nedu schemes. Rs 2653 crore have been allocated for irrigation department, while Rs 3567 crore have been allocated for the health and medical department.
