Need Horses, Not Donkeys!: AP Govt to HC
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 Oct 2016 5:32 PM GMTHyderabad High Court on September 12th issued a stay on Swiss Challenge Model adopted by AP Government to construct the new capital. AP Municipal Department Chief Secretary & CRDA Commissioners have filed separate petitions in High Court seeking removal of the stay.
On behalf of AP Government, Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas argued in High Court. 'Swiss Challenge isn't just about development. We should complete the project at a fast pace and even marketing must be done simultaneously. AP need horses who could run not donkeys. Due to the cash crunch, State Government opted for Swiss Challenge. None of the proposals challenging Swiss Consortium have been made so far,' he told.
Immediately, Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice U.Durga Prasad quoted, 'Actually, Donkeys work better than Horses and they carry lot of weight'.
D Prakash Reddy, counsel of petitioner Aditya Construction Company, pointed out that AP Government has mentioned in the tender that money is of top priority. He, however, wondered while Govt is trying to convey to the court that employment opportunities will be the main aim. He asked if Government is willing to offer the contract to any other company that promises more jobs than Singapore Consortium. He told CRDA hasn't disclosed the financial aspects of the deal between AP Govt and Singapore Consortium. He alleged Government has prepare the guidelines in such a way that none of the companies except Singapore Consortium will be eligible to take part in the bidding. The next hearing of the case was posted to October 17th.
