By: Tupaki Desk | 28 Aug 2021 2:27 PM GMTIn the recent past, the Andhra Pradesh government had faced several shocks in the High Court and the Supreme Court by receiving orders against the government decisions.
The cases that were filed against the government and the officials are piling up to an extent that close to 2 lakh cases such cases are filed in various courts against the government.
The mind-blowing details of the cases pending against the state government were revealed by news agency Press Trust of India(PTI) in its new report.
As per the findings of the PTI, 1.94 lakh cases and petitions were filed against the government in various courts. The case count is growing gradually as the new petitions are being filed daily.
PTI said that around 450 cases against the government are being filed daily while most of them are writ petitions.
The government officials working in various departments and sectors are also having a tough time with the court. Around 8,000 contempt proceedings cases were pending against government officials and
bureaucrats.
These contempt proceedings are pending for the reason of not implementing the orders issued by various courts. The cases and petitions filed against the Andhra Pradesh government are coming from public, activists, NGOs and others.
Talking about the trend of daily filing of the petitions against the government, Former Advocate General, Dammalapati Srinivas said that the petitions filed mostly against the policies brought by the government and the decisions taken by the government.
Since Jagan Mohan Reddy's party came to power in the state, the cases filed against the government have increased by around 30 percent, he added.
As an example for this, we have earlier seen the Court directing a few officials to be in the court till the end of the proceedings for the day and changing the decision considering the petitions filed by the respective officials and bureaucrats.
Even a few IAS and IPS officers in the state also face contempt proceedings for being unable to implement the orders they have received from the courts. The list includes senior officers of various ranks from both cadres.
