Arrest Of Activists: Target 2019 Polls?
By: Tupaki Desk | 30 Aug 2018 4:43 AM GMTArrest of Human Rights Activists across the nation in the recent past raised many doubts. If the arrests happened in connection with the Bhima Koregaon Riots or Modi's Assassination Plot?
On June 6th, Five Human Rights Activists were arrested in Pune under 1967 (VAPA) Act. Even Five Activists, including Varavara Rao, who were arrested in Hyderabad recently have been charged with this controversial Act. Other than a letter, There is no strong evidence to prove the assassination plot against Modi. This could be the reason why cases were booked on the activists using other sections.
Upon facing backlash, Union Home Ministry issued a statement saying 7 out of those Activists who were arrested are members of Organisations linked to Maoists as per the report of UPA Government in 2012.
Whereas, Opposition Parties and Human Rights Activists have been complaining that this is a ploy of Modi & Co. to build a strong sentiment across the nation so as to retain power in 2019.
