By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Jun 2017 8:45 AM GMTThe representation given by AP Government over Tax Rates haven't been taken into confidence by the GST Council. Whereas, Two of the 34 Proposals placed by Telangana Government were approved.
AP Government sought Tax exemption for Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Even Service Tax exemption has been sought for Polavaram Project. None of these demands were approved by the GST Council.
On the other hand, Telangana Govt's plea seeking reduction of Tax on Movie Tickets and Spectacles has been approved. Tax on Movie Tickets costing Rs 100 or less has been reduced to 18% from 28%.
Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajendar said: 'Not reducing Tax on medium-scale industries is against Make-in-India campaign. Tax Exemption wasn't given for Mission Bhagiratha project. Plea to reduce tax on Granite Industries, Plastic Chairs, Biscuits, Handlooms and etc., is being neglected'.
