Who called Arun Jaitley a Crook in the court?
By: Tupaki Desk | 18 May 2017 11:22 AM GMTUnion Finance Minister Arun Jaitley lost his cool in Delhi High Court on Thursday after Senior Advocate Ram Jethmalani dared to call him a 'crook'. This incident happened during the cross examination of Arun Jaitley in connection with the Rs 10 crore defamation suit filed by him against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Ram Jethmalani is the counsel of AAP Chief in this case.
In the High Court, Ram Jethmalani alleged Arun Jaitley of using his powers to stop publishing of his article on irregularities in DDCA in a weekly magazine. The Advocate said Jaitley was President of DDCA when the corruption took place and went on to call him a crook. He even accused the Finance Minister of deceiving the people by hiding the crime he committed.
A visibly annoyed Arun Jaitley asked Ram Jethmalani if he had used the objectionable word as per the instructions of Arvind Kejriwal. 'If that is so, I will aggravate the charges against Arvind Kejriwal,' he warned.
Jaitley's Counsel objected to the used of certain words by Ram Jethmalani. However, The Top Lawyer continued the attack on the Union Minister. That's when, The Joint Registrar Deepali Sharma intervened and asked the senior lawyer not to cross the limit.
Arun Jaitley filed civil defamation suit and sought Rs 10 crore compensation from Arvind Kejriwal and five other AAP Leaders for alleging financial irregularities in DDCA when he was its President from 2003 to 2013.
