Ready To Give, AP Isn't Willing To Take: Jaitley
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 March 2018 11:30 AM GMTThere seems to be not much change in the attitude of Centre even after both TDP and YSR Congress moved No Confidence Motion against it in Parliament. He now throws the ball in the court of State Government to convey the message Centre is always ready to give but AP isn't willing to take.
Reiterating that Special Category Status can't be granted, Arun Jaitley claims NDA is committed to extend all the benefits equivalent to Special Status through Special Package. 'Can't offer Special Status after implementation of the recommendations of 14th Finance Commission. AP Government sought a change in the process of granting funds under Special Package only in January 2018. Centre has accepted the proposal but we haven't received any further communication from AP Government regarding this matter. It's up to the State Government to decide whether they need resources or wishes to make an issue out of it,' he commented.
AP Government appealed Centre to offer special package benefits through NABARD. Then, The Union Government told AP that such a move would increase fiscal deficit and lower the borrowing limit. Instead, Centre proposed the idea of bringing a special purpose vehicle to transfer funds from NABARD. Arun Jaitley says AP Officials informed him on February 7th that they would get back to him after taking a decision but that didn't happen so far.
