ICC Annual Awards ceremony is being held on Thursday to honour the excellence in Cricket since the past one year.
Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who is behind India's superb record in Tests since the past two years bagged the ICC Cricketer of the Year award. He was honoured with Sir Garfield Sobers trophy.
So far, Only Two Indians Rahul Dravid (2004) and Sachin Tendulkar (2010) achieved this fear in the past 12 years. Now, Ashwin joins the elite club.
Ashwin also bagged ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award. He is only the second Indian cricketer after Rahul Dravid to bag two awards in the same year.
On-field Performances of Cricketers from all the Test Playing Nations from September 2015 to September 2016 was considered for picking up the Winners of ICC Awards.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are currently World No.1 & No.2 Test Bowlers as per ICC Rankings. Each of them claimed more than 25 wickets in the recently concluded Test series against England. Never been before two Indian cricketers were at No.1 and No.2 spots during the same period.
