By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Dec 2019 5:50 AM GMTAssam and Bengal continue to stage violent protests strongly opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) as people are hitting the roads and burning vehicles and setting ablaze buildings too. A train was vandalized by a mob in Bengal.
In Guwahati, two more persons have succumbed to wounds of gunshots in the police firing, increasing the count to four. The protestors are claiming that due to the police firing, five persons have lost their lives.
Addressing a rally in Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "The Congress and its allies are stoking fire over the Citizenship Act, but people of northeast have rejected violence. Actions of the Congress prove that all decisions taken in Parliament are correct."
"People who are setting fire (to property) can be seen on TV... They can be identified by the clothes they are wearing," he observed.
The police said 75 people have been arrested and 1,406 taken into preventive custody across Assam.
