Will Atchen Naidu Be Disqualified?
By: Tupaki Desk | 9 July 2019 6:56 AM GMTWill former minister and one of the two TDP MLAs who won from Srikakulam district, Kinjarapu Atchennaidu, be disqualified as he has not disclosed some very grave cases pending against him? His rival and the losing candidate from Tekkali, Perada Tilak has knocked the doors of the High Court seeking Naidu's disqualification. He charged Naidu with misleading the Election Commission by hiding some very grave cases pending against him.
In his petition, Tilak alleged that Naidu has not mentioned the criminal cases pending against him. He said that he is facing criminal cases under various sections in connection with the arson on July 21, 2007 near Obulapuram mines. Similarly, he is Accused No 21 in connection with the Raidurgam Court case. He also has an arrest warrant pending against him in connection with the case. Tilak asked the court direct the Government to immediately arrest Atchen Naidu in view of the warrants pending against him.
In the recent assembly elections, Tilak lost to Atchen Naidu by just 8500 votes in a keenly contested fight. Tilak fought the elections on the YSRCP ticket, while Naidu fought on the TDP ticket. If the court rules in favour of Tilak, then Atchen may have to resign.
