Shocking: ATMs Remain Shut After 11 PM?
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 July 2018 6:55 AM GMTAlthough the abbreviation of ATM is 'Automated Teller Machine', It's quite popular as 'Any Time Money' because public can withdraw money from them round the clock. If the latest buzz is any indication, This is going to change soon and ATMs may remain shut for close to 7 hours per day.
In the coming days, There is a possibility of stopping the practice of keeping ATMs open for 24 hours. They might be closed down at 11 PM and reopened at 6 AM. Security Reasons and Cutting down maintenance cost are the major reasons cited for such a possibility.
Recently, Police Officials held a meeting with Bankers in Cyberabad. A decision has been reached that ATMs at locations where the demand is low should be closed. In the outskirts of Hyd, ATMs had been misused by the cyber criminals. To prevent any such practices, Cops and Bankers were considering delinking or shutting down ATMs from 11 PM to 6 AM. This rule might be applied for ATMs in which less than 5 transactions happen on an average at night.
If the rule is implemented, The hardships faced by public since demonetisation would only increase. No cash boards have been placed at many of the ATMs for days already.
