The Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) which played a key role in the separate Telangana state movement rose to power in the 2014 polls, the first polls after the state was formed with a lot of hopes and promises. The TRS which waged a war against the Andhra rulers during the agitation promised to revive the Sugar Factory which is popular with the name Nizam Sugar Factory.

The ruling TRS had completed eight years of its power. Despite promising to revive it, the government could not fulfill it due to various reasons. At regular intervals, the opposition parties and the farmers are coming down seriously on the TRS for forgetting the promise the party made earlier.

The long-pending promise of Nizam Sugar Factory reopening came back to haunt the Telangana Rashtra Samithi as a farmer expressed his anger at Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister and TRS Working President KTR. He made a failed attempt to hurl chappal at the Minister's convoy.

IT Minister Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao(KTR) toured in Metpalli recently to part in the development works. Knowing that KTR is coming, Mamdi Narayana Reddy, president of Sugarcane Producers Association reportedly tried to show his anger at the Minister. He tried to hurl his chappal at KTR's convoy.

But the cops came to KTR's rescue and stopped the farmer from hurling his chappal at his convoy. The cops who were present there took the person into custody and shifted him to a nearby Police Station. He was shifted to the Metpalli police station.

The arrested farmer was quoted as saying by a few media outlets that he is not happy with the TRS government's behavior on the Sugar Factory reopening issue. Demanding that the sugar factory should be reopened at the earliest or else the sugarcane farmers will be affected, the farmer reportedly did this.

The Nizam Sugar Factory was set up by the Nizams in Nizamabad's Bodhan. It was dubbed as the largest sugar factory in Asia back then. However, the factory was neglected later and the governments in the combined state did not reportedly give importance to the sugar factory which is also called Nizam Deccan Sugars Limited (NDSL).
